The Source

As of late, I have become addicted to hot sauce. I have this bottle of Tapatio that I am literally putting on everything. If my mouth isn't burning at the end I didn't put enough on. This reminds me of this hot sauce challenge that the "Dream Team"-- which was just my friends in highschool-- would do. We would take this sauce called The Source and each only take a single drop of it. Of course we had to out do each other, people took two drops, but then someone got stomach ulcers so we capped it at two. Then we would take it and then wait five minutes until we drank milk or water. We were so stupid, but just how hot was that sauce? Lets take a look:

A unit of heat (or hotness from a pepper) is a Scoville unit. So just how hot was this sauce?

0- This is a sweet bell pepper
2,500- this is your average Tabasco sauce
5,000- this is a jalapeno
20,000- this is a serrano pepper
100,000- this is a habanero pepper, which is not fun to eat by itself

Lets jump ahead to the hottest pepper that grows in nature:

1,001,304- the Naga- Bih Jolokia Pepper, ten times hotter than your average habanero

The only way to get hotter tasting things is by using chemicals:

2,000,000- this is your common pepper spray you would use to fight off the bad guys...
2,200,000- this is equal to the venom of the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, ouch!!
5,300,000- this is police grade pepper spray, riot control spray, just not good stuff

7,100,000- this is The Source Hot Sauce. I have no idea why we would willingly do this to ourselves, especially more than once in a lifetime.

There is no cheap way to get anything hotter than The Source, there are a few chemicals, and then pure capsaicin, which is the purest form of heat, that is about 16,000,000 but it can actually kill a human if eaten, so they dont sell it.

I like spicy food. But would I ever try The Source again?

You bet I would.

Ron Swanson knows heat

Actually cooking with it might be a good idea like in soup or chili. Who knows?

Paper is going well. Discussing the issues in Ukraine. I was thinking Venezuela but Ukraine I have more understanding of. only about 4000 more words to go. I dont even know actually, the length of this essay is pretty ridiculous.

Adios
