Throughout all of my educational career I have been told never to use Wikipedia. I now realize that wasnt because the information could be wrong, (trust me a majority of it is correct, because I use it all the time and I do well in school), but we were told not to use it because it is sooo easy to access. I think all the teachers and profs wanted us to have to struggle a little bit when doing research papers or whatever. I seriously love Wikipedia. It is extremely helpful.
Did you know? All those little numbers that are hyper links in the article can lead you to the footnotes? And most of those are scholarly or beautiful resources. Yes. Yes they are. It is a magnificent place. As of late I find myself wasting time reading about lots of random things. I kind of go on mental tangents and will look up random things that connect. Like an hour ago I was looking sauerkraut because I was eating it and wanted to know some of the history of it. So I wiki it. Then I link to kimchi, a cabbage meal in Korea. Then I saw that it was the national dish of Korea. Then I wondered what the USA's nation dish was, we have hamburgers, fried chicken, or apple pie. Way to go America! Then I saw there was a list of National Liquors, so I look at schnapps in Germany and looked at wine in America. Then I see Washington state produces a lot of wine, then I find myself reading about WSU and it's history, most of which I already knew but was simply cementing it in my mind. I dont know, this is a bit of a positive rant, but Wiki is amazing.
I dont need to open no books in the library, I just wiki. Okay, not really. Books are good and are full of detail, but I could probably find 95% of what I need/ want to know online.
Today we played inequality Monopoly in class. Rich/middle/working/lower classes against each other. Only the lower classes have limitations on what they can buy. Thats all we did. I of course got stuck with lower class. I survived mostly by going to jail and avoiding rolling doubles. I couldnt buy any property because the upper class bought all the ones I could. I did manage to make it the whole class and all I had left was 27 dollars. Boo yah.
